JoePa

Since I can remember I had always been a Nittany Lions fan and more over a Joe Paterno fan. Coach Paterno past way early Sunday at age 85.

Coach Paterno won 409 games in 46 years as the head football coach for Penn State. The most of anyone in major college football history. Which is second all-time among college coaches.

During his tenure the Lion's averaged 8.9 wins per season

He also holds the NCAA records for most bowl appearances (37) and bowl wins (24). He had 24 bowl wins as Penn State’s head coach. Only six teams other than Penn State have won more bowl games in their history.

Here are a few of his quotes;
"Its the name on the front of the jersey that matters most, not the one on the back."
More Professional athletes need to be reminded of this.

"You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That's the mark of a true professional."
One we all should demand from ourselves.

"I hate the BCS and we need a playoff"

Maybe the NCAA will honor Joe with finally getting rid of the BCS, and don't ask me to explain it because I can't. Hell I doubt anyone in the NCAA can explain how it works.

Stop PIPA and SOPA

Millions of Americans oppose SOPA and PIPA because these bills would censor the Internet and slow economic growth in the U.S.

Two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House, would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business. Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA.
The Senate will begin voting on January 24th. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late. https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

More about SOPA and PIPA

Members of Congress are trying to do the right thing by going after pirates and counterfeiters but SOPA and PIPA are the wrong way to do it.

1. SOPA and PIPA would censor the Web

The U.S. government could order the blocking of sites using methods similar to those employed by China. Among other things, search engines could be forced to delete entire websites from their search results. That’s why 41 human rights organizations and 110 prominent law professors have expressed grave concerns about the bills.

2. SOPA and PIPA would be job-killers because they would create a new era of uncertainty for American business

Law-abiding U.S. internet companies would have to monitor everything users link to or upload or face the risk of time-consuming litigation. That’s why AOL, EBay, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Mozilla, Twitter, Yahoo and Zynga wrote a letter to Congress saying these bills “pose a serious risk to our industry’s continued track record of innovation and job-creation.” It’s also why 55 of America’s most successful venture capitalists expressed concern that PIPA “would stifle investment in Internet services, throttle innovation, and hurt American competitiveness”. More than 204 entrepreneurs told Congress that PIPA and SOPA would “hurt economic growth and chill innovation”.

3. SOPA and PIPA wouldn’t stop piracy

To make matters worse, SOPA and PIPA won’t even work. The censorship regulations written into these bills won’t shut down pirate sites. These sites will just change their addresses and continue their criminal activities, while law-abiding companies will suffer high penalties for breaches they can’t possibly control.
There are effective ways to combat foreign “rogue” websites dedicated to copyright infringement and trademark counterfeiting, while preserving the innovation and dynamism that have made the Internet such an important driver of American economic growth and job creation. Congress should consider alternatives like the OPEN Act, which takes targeted and focused steps to cut off the money supply from foreign pirate sites without making US companies censor the Web.

GOP Crazy Train

Iowa caucus was last week with Mitt and Santorum finishing in a near dead heat. Tomorrow is  the first primary in New Hampshire. So, I figured I'd breakdown the GOP Canidates as I see them. Though I really wish Herman and Michele were still in the race they were a lot of fun to watch and listen too.

Mitt Romney former Massachusetts Governor, unemployed career politician and currently unemployed 1% . I know he's worth $200 million +, but I wonder if he's been collecting unemployment? Even though he probably has the best chance of winning the GOP has been running screaming anyone but Mitten. I love Superpacs! He's be on either side of just about every issue you could think of. In his eyes the people don't matter it the corporations that matter. He'd probably outsource the military to China.

Newt Gingrich former Representative from Georgia and speaker of the US House. Marriage vows mean little to him and is on his 3rd marriage. Just like John Edwards he cheated on his wife while she was fighting cancer. Also unemployed but has been working for K-Street lobbyist and the Frannie Mae. In his own words the rest of the pack are a bunch of fucking liars and I wouldn't mind being your VP.

Ron Paul current Representative from Texas, Doctor of something, Libertarian and Isolationist. He has the support of the Nazi Party of America and the KKK, not endorsements I would want. Even though he is a DR. he doesn't have a problem with letting people die, so much for the Hippocratic oath. I think this is his 3rd or 4th time running for President, he's just the kid in the back of the class that always has his hand up but the teacher never calls on him.

John Huntsman  former Utah Governor and US Ambassador to China. He has the most impressive resume but to liberal for GOP. Which means he's intelligent, experienced and the most qualified candidate of the bunch. He couldn't win if he was the only man running.

Rick Perry Texas Governor He's dumber than Bush 43. He's a nut case and a Bible-thumping wingnut. People only matter at the time of conception until they are born and then he doesn't care about you until he gets to put you to death. In between you are on your own.

Santorum, Rick former Representative from Pennsylvania He's crazier than Rick Perry. Wants to turn the US into a Christian Theocracy and dump the US Constitution for biblical laws (ie Sharia law). In the words of columnist Dan Savage "Santorum 1. The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex. 2. Senator Rick Santorum"

I think those are all of the candidates I may be be missing one or two that none of has ever heard of which mean they probably aren't sure what they are running for.
