MLB coming soon

Okay with the spring weather trends it only means one thing. That opening day of Major League Baseball is right around the corner. Last year I did one preview for the whole league this time I decide to break it up between the NL and AL. I should have them both up on Thursday, since the season starts this weekend I know I'm a little late. I had hoped to have them up a week or two ago but I've been a slug, when I should have been a slugger :-)
I was hoping for a more eventful free agent market this winter but it was actually pretty boring. There were no bidding wars at all and most clubs had remained quite conservative even the free spending Yankees and Red Sox where kind of quiet. Though both of them did make some moves it just wasn't what we had seen in the past. I think, what had surprised me the most was that teams spent more attention to the retaining the talent that they had on their staff instead of looking else where.
Now before you jump on me about the Red Sox signing John Lakey and not signing Jason Bay, I'll get to those when I do the league breakdowns. This will include the Cliff Lee/ Roy Halladay trade also. So yes there was some action but I was hoping for a Mark Texeria or A-rod style bidding war and those just never developed.
But until then I hope everyone has a great week and that my friends and Family in New England are able to dry out.

Bigotry has no place

A friend of mine sent me this link today and I wanted to share with all of you. I think that Ali Velshi hit the nail on the head and I don't think that I could say it any better.

If you have issues with it playing here is a link. http://news.turner.com/video_display.cfm?video_id=5683

There is no longer a place for hate in society today.

I Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Saint Patricks Day!!! So go get yourself a plate of cornbeef and wash it down with  a Guinness.Leave the green beer for the wee little leprechauns. First Contact

I knew this day would come, when I would be approached by some one at work about this blog. Yesterday I was called in to my managers office and he just happened across it. Before you all freak out nothing bad became of the discussion. Though I do have to say I was a little freaked out, my mind was spinning trying to think back over the 500 or so posting on what have I said that could have been misconstrued or used against me. So I was immediately on the defensive.

Once I was told I was not in trouble my heart rate settled back to normal and my emotions took hold. It's just the kind of person that I am. I may have a hard exterior but I'm pretty soft and mushy inside. I really appreciated the comments and did explain have to him that this is my way of blowing off steam. He now understands me a little bit better which I hope is a good thing. If asked would I have deleted of edited any of my postings, yes I probably would have. I'm not going to put my career in jeopardy because of an entry I made.

This is just an outlet for me, I can write things about my day, events or weird things I come across and comment on them. Sometimes I'm not that verbal in what is bothering me or what is going through my head. Which in itself can look more like a tangled bundle of string than clear and concise thoughts.
I just want to say, I'm not paranoid since what I have written has been out there for sometime. I didn't going to run home to delete any entries. I stand by what I have written. I also understand where he was coming from and he knows I love my job, the people and the company.

Until this morning I wasn't even sure how I should approach this entry or if I would even mention it. But, if I didn't then it may just be a missed opportunity. So I pose these questions to my followers and other in the blogsphere; How have you handled similar situations or would you? Have ever regretted anything you have written? Was it a positive or negative experience for you?

Nomar to retire as a Red Sox

Nomar was one of my favorite all-time Shortstops that had played for Red Sox. I really can't say they have had one that has measured up since, that position has been some what of black hole that for the team. I have to say the just the gesture of the Red Sox signing him to a one day contract just so he can retire is pretty cool and you don't hear of that often. Nomar's best days were with the Sox and he was one of the best shortstops that has played for the team. I wish Nomar and his family the best of luck in their future endeavors.

What Counts?

The Olympic end last night and I know I'll miss them. It was nice to have something else to watch on TV on my days off besides the usual reruns. Maybe ESPN will take a hint and actually show some sports on their network beside talk shows and non sport events. I don't know about you but I don't consider poker and fishing sports, but then again I don't want to watch bowling, pool, or tennis either. Wohoa I need to rein this in I'm wandering off course.

Now that the Olympic tallies are final who actually won? If you consider that the state with the most medals the winner than the USA won. But you could also argue the country with the most Gold medals the winner which would be Canada. So who do you consider the winner?

What's coming up? Well I hope to have my baseball predictions up soon. Maybe some political rhetoric, politics have been absent from my blog lately. Sorry I have been trying to keep things here on a positive note.

As I was saying yesterday I think I'm starting to come down with the crud that Ryan had. I'm hoping that I can shake it but I really didn't get a good nights sleep last night.
