Halloween

Trick or Treat? The Trick; Scurrying around all weekend the Rats in the Bush admin were able to find an ASS to take Miers place. I do mean ASS in capitals, from what I have read and heard so far is not good. Judge Alito is basically a Bigot and Racist. But Bush did say once again that he is the "Most qualified canidate", but wait a minute I thought Ms. Miers was the "Most qualified" Is it me or is someone confused? Oh yeah that's right W opened his lie hole again. I hope this SOB isn't confirmed.

The Treat; I can't remember if I mentioned this on Friday or not, but Scooter is in Trooouble. I just hope Fitzgerald doesn't stop there, you know others in higher places knew more. I don't understand how getting a hummer in the Oval office should result in an impeachment hearing and Treason doesn't. I'm sorry I had security clearance when I was in the navy, there are some serious WTF going on. I just hope that some how it can be linked back to W, least before he Pardons Scooter.

This weekend Ryan and I drove up to Northern Georgia to check out the foliage, there wasn't much. I really miss Fall in New England, this is one of my favorite seasons. I love the smell of the leaves, even the fact I'd have to spend a day racking them. If you have the chance you really should check out New England in Fall, leaf peeping is really amazing.

Tomorrow I have to take the stupid regents test at GSU. Ugh I hate tests, but wish me luck. Once that is all over I need to finish a paper for my International Relations class.

Breaking News; bye bye Harriet

Harriet Miers has with drawn her nomination to the US Supreme court. Now what does this mean? W will have to find a new canidate, unfortunately it will probably be a conservative. I just hope it's not the US AG Gonzalez, he is an extremely loose canon and would reek havoc on privacy issues, due process and many other issues. He has been tied to the policy memos in the White House about torture. Yeah he's not a nice guy. I just hope that the President is able to find some one in the middle of the road, "Hey maybe he can actually find someone this time that has been a Judge or even a trial lawyer, you know that is qualified not just a crony."

Sorry I haven't been post very often over the week or so, I had midterms and devoting most of my time to that. The next couple of weeks aren't going to be that much better either, I have 2 papers to write and debate to prepare for. I hope you all liked my pumpkin photo's Ryan and I carved those sunday afternoon. It was messy fun.

G.O.P.S

What the hell is going on? It just seems like there is no one in charge in Washington. In every public comment Bush makes he seems frazzled almost out of it lately. I mean more than usual, the pressure from all sides must be getting to him. This was obvious during W's question and answer session with troops in Iraq on Thursday,It backfired badly. I don't know if you were able to catch it, but I was off and saw it live on CNN. I guess for some reason they let the feed go live a little to early. So everyone was able to see a woman from the Pentagon coaching the troops. So much for saying what's on your mind.

The rest of the Republicans party is imploding around W. First T.Delay and now B.Frist are facing indictments, and not to far off could be indictment for someone inside the White House "Cough"(K.Rove and Scooter). Mark Fiore has a great piece of animation called G.O.P.S, it's a take off on COPS here's the link, you should really check it out it's hilarious. http://www.markfiore.com/animation/gops.html

It also looks like some conservatives are calling for Miers to step down from her nomination. This seems to include Cheney and AG Gonzalez who are peeved that she was even give the opportunity.

This means they(GOP) are venerable especially with elections coming up. Bush's Poll numbers are in the toilet. Everyone has realized that the war in Iraq was not worth the cost. The administration should have listen to Colin Powell, "If you Break it, the you bought it." Boy did they ever break it, even with the Constitution being voted on many analysis are seeing a civil war in the making. Let's hope that never happens.

Ugh

Yesterday I had my first mid-term of the semester, in Philosophy. All I can say about is (In the voice of the simpsons' character the Comic book guy) "Worst Mid-Term Ever."
It wasn't because I didn't study I've been doing looking over note and readings since last week. We had 45 min to take the damn test after the professor finished his shpeal. I think the format may have had something do with it I don't know, really. We had 14 quotes to read and then pick 4, ID the author, the reading and write a paragraph about it. I was just overwhelmed seeing all the quotes and I did recognize 80% of them at first sight. I just drew a blank, it was like I sat down and flushed a toilet and all my thoughts went down the pipe with the rest of the crap.
The rest of the test was 14 multiple choice and 15 matching. I think I just spent to much time writing the realized I had 15min to answer the others so I answered the multiple choice and did some the matching.
I haven't been flustered by a test in a longtime and usually do pretty good. I just don't know what happened and have been trying to regroup. I know I bombed it. I still have a paper and the final so can still pull my grade out of the shitter.

On top of it all work wasn't much better. Two people called out leaving us shorthanded people always seem to be sick on Friday nights. Next, I had one witch that chewed me a new ass because she felt she had been smited by one of employees. So I just stood there and took, not much else I can do. I apologized and talked to the employee. It was just on of those nights there was a lot of traffic in the store which was great, and we were busy, so I was running here and there. I just didn't get anything accomplished that I wanted to. By the time the store was closed up and myself and the other manager left it was 10:30 we usually leave by 9:30.

Coming Out

This Question was posted in a group on Myspace.com that I belong to.
" My question is, do you think people can choose whether they want to be gay or not? I thought the things my friends were saying were the stupidest things I've ever heard. It never occurred to me that people thought homosexuality was just a lifestyle that some people choose to have. I thought it was genetics. Am I alone here?"

After reading through a few of the post one kid (and I do mean kid) replied with
"it might be genetic but it also has to do with the childhood(abuse) of the person."

Here was my reply to both
"I have to disagree with you. I had a great childhood. I was never abused by anyone family or otherwise. My parents never have been together for 38 years now. I'm gay and my brother is straight. Growing up I played soccer and hockey and am still an avid baseball and hockey fan. I knew that something was different about me when I was a kid, but didn't identify myself as being gay until I was 15. I didn't come out until after high school.

Maybe in some % of the case there was abuse at home. I don't think you can may that case for every gay and lesbian in the world. There is some genetic work to identify genes related to sexual orientation. I don't have the answer to that question, but I don't think you can blame abuse. Are there or could there have been other enivornmental factors that contribute to a persons orientation, I guess there could be.
I can say for myself I didn't choice to be gay. Would I change the way I am if I could? No, I wouldn't. Maybe some others would but this is the way I am."

It's people like this that have this mis-conception of the GLBT community and assume we are all pedophiles. I'm sure there are cases out there where some person was tortured or sexually abused as a child and now is gay.

Ignorance is something we are still fighting, so anyone that says that GLBT rights are not the same as the civil rights struggles they are mistaken. Given the current political climate in the US, policies such as "Don't ask, Don't Tell", be prevented from entering a commitment with the person we love and tragic events like what happened to Matthew Sheppard, they are wrong. We are not second class citizens and I refuse to be treated like one.
What we need is for more people to come out of the closet. Speak up and be heard, write your elected officials and most important of all VOTE. Until we as a community do these things we will not be taken seriously.

Now I maybe over reacting, but I don't think so. What do you think?

Your OOOUUUTTT!

The Red Sox bit off more than they could chew being swept by the Chicago White Sox. I'm not going to dwell on the loss, the White Sox played all around a better game. Just have to wait until February and spring training. All that is left to do now is shore up the team for next year. What's need to be done? They need to sign most of all GM Theo Epstein to new contract and next to re-sign Johnny Damon.
I can now watch the Boston Bruins and Atlanta Thrashers, if you haven't guessed it the NHL is back. I hope the rule changes bring the game back to the games of yester year; fast moving, hard hitting and creative scoring. The trap all but killed the game in the 1990's it was boring. I can't wait to go to my first game.

Justice Miers??

This morning G.W. nominated Harriet Miers to take Sandra Day O'Conners place on the US Supreme Court, in case you hadn't heard. I, like most Americans said to themselves today, "Who the hell is she?" As the day has gone on little tidbits have come to surface; She has donated money to Al Gore's campaign against her boss and to Sen. Lloyd Bentsen. So she has some redeeming qualities.
She has also contributed to the likes of Phil Graham, that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I will not question her aptitude regarding law she seems to be well qualified. I personally don't believe that you need to have any prior experience as judge to serve on the high court. But does she understand the magnitude of her job and how it can and will effect all of us.

-Does she understand the phrase "Separation of Church and State."
-What does she believe in?
-How would she rule in the case of Privacy?
-How does she view personal freedom?
-Where does the First Amendment stand in a post 9-11 US?
-Does she understand why Gay and Lesbians are not second class citizens and we deserve more than separate but equal.

I just don't know if Ms. Miers is the canidate I want. She could just be a conservative wolf in sheeps clothing.

Also today Tom Delay was indicted on a second charge of conspiracy today. Yesterday, he claimed it was all a conspiracy between the DCC and Texas AG. He says he has evidence, but he won't release it until timely. Here's the quote from CNN, the conversation is almost at the bottom of the transcript. CNN LATE EDITION WITH WOLF BLITZER
BLITZER: When is the evidence going to be made available? You say it's coming. When are you going to make that evidence available?

DELAY: When it's timely.

BLITZER: What does that mean?

DELAY: When it's timely.

LOL, If someone is setting you up and you have evidence to prove your innocents wouldn't it be timely to expose the conspiracy when the bring the indictment?? I wonder if Tom can get capital punishment, I can't think of a better canidate for it.

One season over and another poised to begin

It's final baseball's regular season is over. The American League and the National league have their final 4's. My Red Sox sealed up their wild card position with a win over the Yankees today. I wish they had taken the AL East, but recent history has shown us that the wild card team has better odds to making to the World Series. In this October classic anything can happen.
In the National league my local team the Braves racked up another post season berth. All of the excitement will continue on the 4th. The match ups will be Atlanta vs. Houston and the Red Sox vs. White Sox the other two match ups are the Yankees vs. Angels and last but not least Padres vs. Cardinals. Now I'm not into gambling since I usually end up loosing of just Jinxing my teams. So we'll just have to wait and see what happens, these should be some really good games.

Now I hope I have you asking yourself what season is poised to begin? Well it's the long-lost NHL, sorry I know the NBA is getting ready to start also, but I've never been a big basketball fan. I love to hear the slap of the puck, the bodies being mangled on to the boards and hockey game breaking out of a good boxing match. Nothing warms the blood more on a cold winter night. Hey, what can I say I grew up in New England and have been a Diehard Boston Bruins fan since I could stand up on my own.

Since moving to Atlanta I have adopted the Thrashers and along with the Braves as my teams. I haven't forgotten the teams of my youth though and still stand behind them. So later this week the festivities all begin and only fate will tell who will be the victor.......So let the Games begin
